Uganda is developing high-tech engineering hubs to reverse-engineer foreign machinery and strengthen local production, said Dr. Okodi Samuel of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Secretariat. The initiative focuses on the minerals sector and aims to boost artisanal miners by lowering production costs and improving technology. Facilities like the Revitete Engineering Design Center and T-BiC hubs support innovation, while new lab equipment at universities enhances research, nanotechnology, and industrial-scale innovation.
