Tanzania’s tea production rose over 5% to 22,000 tonnes in 2024/25, boosted by the reopening of dormant factories and new processing plants. The Tea Board of Tanzania expects output to exceed 30,000 tonnes this fiscal year. Revived facilities, including Kilolo and Victoria Tea, aim to serve domestic and export markets. Investments and farmer training in cultivation, fertiliser use, and harvesting support growth. Tea is grown in six regions, with 32,000 smallholders and seven large producers cultivating 23,805 hectares.
