Zimbabwe, China Boost Tobacco Trade

Zimbabwe’s tobacco industry sought to boost local processing and exports through partnerships with China. At the Zimbabwe-China Tobacco Expo 2025, Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board chair Patrick Devenish said only 10% of tobacco undergoes local processing. He called for joint ventures in cigarette production and nicotine extraction. Agriculture Minister Anxious Masuka urged sustainable curing methods. He also praised China, Zimbabwe’s largest buyer, for continuing to invest and collaborate in the tobacco sector.
