On September 1, 2025, the High Court declined to stop the arrest of Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok, allowing his arraignment over alleged corruption and conflict of interest. He is accused of receiving unlawful payments through county contracts. On September 2, the court released him on a KSh 15 million bond (or KSh 5 million cash bail), with orders to avoid witness interference. The case will proceed in the Milimani Anti-Graft Court.
