The New Congress Party (NCP) withdrew from the Tonse Alliance, citing greed, disunity, and lack of consultation among alliance members. NCP leader Peter Chanda stated the party would contest the 2026 elections independently, ending its role as the alliance’s designated lead vehicle. The move triggered emergency meetings within the Patriotic Front (PF), which now faces uncertainty over the alliance’s leadership structure and strategy ahead of the upcoming general elections.
