Petition Seeks to Bar CSs from Politics

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Law Society of Kenya Vice President Mwaura Kabata filed a petition at the Milimani Law Courts seeking to stop Cabinet Secretaries and senior State officials from engaging in political activities. The petition challenges Section 25 of the Conflict-of-Interest Act, 2025, calling it unconstitutional and discriminatory. The two argue that the exemption of CSs undermines public service neutrality and violates constitutional principles of leadership, integrity, and accountability.
