Somalia Launches Counter-IED Strategy

Somalia launched its first National Counter-IED Strategy at a workshop in Mogadishu, attended by senior security officials and international partners. Supported by the UN, the plan aims to curb improvised explosive devices used by al-Shabaab and Daesh. It outlines intelligence-led operations, enhanced border controls, judicial reforms, financial disruption of terror networks, and public awareness campaigns, establishing a whole-of-government approach to countering explosive threats and strengthening national security.
