Uganda is expanding its national space program with major upgrades to the Mpoma ground station and plans for two new collaborative satellites, said Dr. Doreen Agaba, head of the Aeronautics & Space Bureau. Lessons from the 2022 PearlAfricaSat-1 mission are guiding this development. Current upgrades include enhanced spacecraft communication, a new national R&D lab, and a centralized GIS data hub. The bureau is also training local experts and integrating space studies into 10 universities.
